Washington Graphics LLC Prints ‘Carmen’ Promotionals for Seattle Opera

This past month, Seattle Opera teamed up with Washington Graphics LLC when they needed to advertise for their rendition of the famous opera Carmen which runs through October 29, 2011.

Founded in 1963 by Glynn Ross, Seattle Opera has grown to be one of the premier opera companies in the United States. Some of their earlier claims to fame under Ross included both the world premiere production of Carlisle Floyd’s opera Of Mice and Men in 1970 and the 1975 production of Wagner’s Ring de Nebilungen opera in a one week festival – something that had not been done in the United States since 1939 or outside of New York ever.

Since its earlier years, Seattle Opera has put on many more spectacular productions for audiences to enjoy and has remained true to its mission of “producing musically extraordinary, theatrically compelling operas.”

In 1993, they even partnered with Seattle’s famous glass artist Dale Chihuly to create a stunning set for Pelleas et Melisande. It is no surprise that Seattle Opera has the highest per capita attendance of any opera house in the United States.

In addition to their riveting performances, Seattle Opera’s influence extends through education programs, the sets it build for other companies, and the helping hand it lends to community projects such as repairing the Monorail doors for the City of Seattle.

Arguably one of the world’s most famous operas, Georges Bizet’s Carmen will be playing through October 29 at Seattle Opera. Set in Seville, Spain during the mid 1800’s, the story tells of a fiery-tempered gypsy woman named Carmen who wins the heart of Corporal Don José, a soldier.

Their relationship leads to a series of unexpected events that eventually result in a dramatic ending. From the dazzling sets to the memorable songs, gypsies, and even toreadores, Carmen is definitely a sizzling Spanish must-see!

Seattle Opera used one banner hung from the ceiling of their lobby as well as one larger promotional outside to whet the appetite of any passersby for a night at the opera!
