What do you get when you combine great talent and ingenuity with precious, child-like stick figure drawings? StickFiggy, of course!
Founder and artist Jane Marshall is the mastermind behind this trendy, lovable brand. For the past few years, Marshall has been expanding her repertoire by creating children’s books, stationery, short videos, and art pieces. Stores around the Seattle area such as Unique Plus in Kirkland and Essenza and Les Amis boutiques in Seattle are now starting to sell some of her products as well.
When asked how she came up with such a simple, fun, whimsical style, Marshall states, “I can think of no greater purpose for my artistic efforts than to be a means to brighten my own thoughts and then to serve as a happiness catalyst for others.”
And Marshall’s StickFiggy brand does just that. She states that she loves seeing people “whether they are 2 years or 95 ‘read’ the picture and get a sense of fun from it.”
When she is creating an image, Marshall makes the drawings more real to her by thinking of the figure as an “imaginary friend.” She says that she then feels responsible for letting its personality shine through on paper.
This past week, Washington Graphics LLC imaged 10 unique art pieces which were hung on display at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, CA. This series depicts the ‘stickfiggys’ doing different comical activities. The pieces’ names only enhance their whimsical nature – ‘Running with Motivation’ (pictures depicting figures running away from a beehive), ‘Box jump’ (figures jumping over boxes), ‘Big Lift’ (stickfiggys lifting weights), and ‘reBooted’ (picture depicting stickfiggy on the computer).
The exhibit will run through December, and all of the pieces are signed and available for purchase. Several of these pieces are shown in the gallery above and on Marshall’s blog.
